As a lifelong educator and administrator, Herman Ohme, Ed.D., has worked with students of all ages, learning styles, and intellectual ranges. He has taught at the country's top universities, including UCLA, Stanford and Yale. Dr. Ohme is also a published author and export on school reform, motivation and learning. In 2001, Dr. Ohme founded the School for Independent Learners (SIL) in Palo Alto, accredited in 2005 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. SIL offers full and part time programs for students needing to complete high school coursework. Full time students are able to customize their education, with flexible scheduling, individualized instruction and opportunities to participlate in extra curricular activities, physical education, elective classes, and community service. School programs are designed to fit individual student needs. Courses taught at SIL are University of California approved in order to meet requirements for college eligibility. SIL's part-time program is for students who want to remain in their current school, but are looking for individual or small group instruction in one or more classes.
